Epstein Barr Virus

Epstein–Barr Virus (EBV) is a common virus that can remain dormant in the body and reactivate during periods of stress, hormonal shifts, or immune strain. While ~95% of people have had EBV at some point in their lives (it is the virus that causes mononucleosis), certain people are predisposed to “reactivations”. This can show up at extreme fatigue, feeling like you have the flu, swollen lymph nodes, joint and nerve pain, brain fog, thyroid dysfunction, dizziness, and more. EBV has been found to be a culprit behind long Covid and several autoimmune diseases, including Lupus, Hashimoto’s, Graves, and Rheumatoid Arthritis.

EBV is a herpes virus that stays with you for life (similar to how chicken pox will lie dormant for life, and in some people be reactivated into shingles during times of stress). But there are holistic solutions to help treat and prevent reactivations. The goal is to have a healthy immune system, lower inflammation, and reduced mental stress. Herbal medicine, supplements, mineral balancing, diet, and lifestyle are all key modalities to help reduce and prevent EBV reactivations.
